Deborah Moggach

Deborah Moggach is a novelist and screenwriter. Her novel These Foolish Things (2004) was adapted by Blueprint Pictures into the box-office smash The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012), starring Academy Award-winners Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. Her 2005 screenplay for Joe Wright’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice was nominated for a BAFTA. Moggach is also a patron of the charity Dignity in Dying, her passion for the cause demonstrated in the story she tells about her mother Charlotte Hough, who was sent to prison in the 1980s for assisting an elderly lady to take her own life.
